A couple of days after the release of one of the big summer attractions (H. Potter Esq. and his Mighty Franchise of Doom) how sweet it is to see the opening of a much smaller and intriguing British sci-fi film by debut feature film director Duncan Jones. Jones is not the typical debutant British film-maker since he is  ‘Zowie Bowie’, the son of David and Angie Bowie. Moon arrives in Leicester (CDL) with a positve reaction at the Sundance Festival and the Michael Powell for best British debut at the Edinburgh International Film Festival last month. It is, then, with so few British films being released locally in recents weeks, a shame that I will be going on holiday and may miss the chance to see it in the cinema. It is, I am guessing, of course no accident that a film about the moon is being shown on the anniversary of the first moon landing. It is likely that many people of my age who were at primary school at the time of Neil Armstrong’s small steps and giant leaps may recall being herded into the hall to watch the event on the school’s television on one of only three channels that were available in the UK at that time. How media times have changed.
